Overview: We are seeking a skilled and motivated Data Privacy Solutions Architect to join our team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in helping clients safeguard their privacy by ensuring that personal data is not inadvertently sent to big tech companies or exposed to unnecessary cybersecurity risks. Your expertise in hardware configuration, security, and privacy-focused technologies will directly contribute to reducing our clients' exposure to privacy violations.

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with clients to understand their privacy and cybersecurity requirements, particularly around minimizing data leakage to large tech platforms.
  • Configure, deploy, and maintain secure hardware systems that enable privacy-preserving technologies, such as local data processing, encryption, and anonymization.
  • Ensure the proper configuration of hardware systems to block unauthorized data sharing, particularly with third-party data processors and big tech companies.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to integrate privacy-enhancing solutions within client infrastructures, focusing on secure data storage, processing, and transmission.
  • Analyze and audit hardware configurations for potential vulnerabilities or risks related to privacy and data security.
  • Stay up-to-date on emerging privacy and cybersecurity trends, tools, and best practices to ensure that hardware configurations are always aligned with the latest standards.
  • Develop and maintain documentation and guidelines for hardware privacy configurations and deployment processes.
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance to clients during and after implementation to ensure hardware privacy solutions are functioning as intended.
  • Work with cross-functional teams, including security engineers, software developers, and legal/compliance experts, to ensure alignment between hardware solutions and broader privacy and security initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Information Security, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
  • Proven experience with hardware configurations, including cell phones, laptops, networking equipment (routers, firewalls, etc.), secure storage devices, and other privacy-focused hardware solutions.
  • Strong understanding of privacy and cybersecurity principles, data protection laws (e.g., GDPR, CCPA), and best practices for securing personal data.
  • Hands-on experience with secure communications protocols (e.g., VPNs, TLS/SSL) and encryption techniques.
  • Familiarity with various privacy-enhancing technologies, such as data anonymization, pseudonymization, and local processing.
  • Knowledge of privacy risks associated with cloud services, IoT devices, and mobile technologies, particularly in relation to big tech companies' data collection practices.
  • Ability to configure and manage hardware-based solutions for secure data transmission, storage, and access control.
  • Experience with security auditing tools and techniques to ensure compliance with privacy and cybersecurity standards.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to clients and stakeholders with varying levels of technical knowledge.
  • Ability to stay informed about new security vulnerabilities and privacy risks, particularly those related to hardware and third-party services.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with enterprise-level privacy solutions and systems integration and can apply that to a home/personal environment.
  • Knowledge of privacy-focused operating systems and tools.
  • Certifications in cybersecurity or privacy (e.g., CISSP, CISM, CIPP).
